Race Meetings

Season 2009/2010 -

• Friday, 6 November 2009 - Ladies Day
• The opening of the Stony Creek racing season is celebrated with the now traditional Ladies Day. Excellent food and carefully chosen wines and ales foster a harmonious return to the gallops at our South Gippsland track. Fashions will amaze!
• Saturday, 5 December 2009 - Christmas Carnival
• Stony Creek's pre-Christmas meeting is a great day whether for the work break-up or family day out. The programme features live music and special entertainment for the children including our playground, petting zoo, face painting and an appearance by Santa Claus "at the fair". Everyone will enjoy exciting racing and an opportunity to invest in the supersize Christmas hamper raffle.
• Monday, 28 December 2009 - Family Carnival
• The Stony Creek race meeting dedicated to encouraging families to have an enjoyable day together at the races. The Club will provide special entertainment for the children including the playground, petting zoo and some secret treats. Mums and Dads will be delighted with the super racing. Music groups will entertain all of our patrons. Families will have the opportunity to register for the lucky draw of a complementary family marquee on Cup Day.
• Saturday, 2 January 2010 - Tasting, Grazing and Racing
• A special celebration of Gippsland food and wine. Our patrons on the day will have the opportunity to taste food and wine of high quality.Two special prizes will be drawn during the course of the afternoon - a case of regional wines and a hamper of preserves and other foodstuffs.
• Sunday, 7 March 2010 - Cup Day
• Cup Day is the major draw card of our season. Exciting racing is guaranteed and our card for the day includes several races for quality gallopers. This feature day is one on which many groups pin their social plans, renting marquees, pre-booking food and bar packages, and dressing with style to for there chance to shine in our Fashions on the Field.
• Sunday, 4 April 2010 - Easter Carnival.
• An innovation encouraged by Racing Victoria has given the Club a new race date - Easter Sunday. The Club will host a country music festival as a feature of this race meeting.

Important Club Policies

Horse Movement Policy and Equine Influenza
The security measures that applied last season in order to avoid the potential for the transfer of the Equine Influenza (EI) virus have now been discontinued. Splendid news for the industry. The Club is grateful for the co-operation received from everyone throughout the "prohibition".

The Club will now operate (revert to) its On-course Horse Movement Policy to ensure that it meets the Occupational Health and Safety and Risk management responsibilities in relation to horse movement and in the best interests of the wellbeing of all our visitors. The policy identifies all horse movement areas and provides details of the limited access to the Mounting Yard, Horse Stalls and Parade Ring Areas.

Everyone should be aware of the policy and make every effort to observe its requirements.

• MOUNTING YARD – This is the area where horses are paraded prior to a race and where jockeys mount and dismount their rides. Access is limited to officials, other authorized personnel, trainers, jockeys and strappers
• MOUNTING YARD VIEWING AREA – Access is available to the owners of horses engaged in a race. Owners who have been issued with a ticket by a Club representative in the Secretary’s Office may view their horse(s) from here but may not enter the Mounting Yard.
• HORSE STALLS AND PARADE RING - The Club is concerned to ensure the safety of the public and so limits access to this area to officials, other authorized personnel, trainers, jockeys and strappers. Owners who have been issued with a ticket may enter the area but must remain behind the protective barriers.

The Club will not be responsible for any injury incurred in these areas – all people whether mentioned above or otherwise enter these areas at their own risk.
