About us . . .

Stony Creek Racing Club Inc. is managed by a committee of community members who bring strengths in business and racing knowledge, an enviable enthusiasm for thoroughbred racing particularly in South Gippsland and a vigorous arm to help with the many chores that must be completed on a regular and honorary basis.

The Committee includes -
Paul Boag, President and Chairman,
Andrew Oldroyd, Vice-Chairman,
Nicole McBride, Treasurer,
Luke O'Brien, Secretary and Deputy Treasurer,
aided and abetted by -
Ross Batten, Danny Buttler, David de Clifford,  John Edwards, Stuart Laing, Anthony Livingstone, John McAinch, Robert Meyer, Paul O'Sullivan and Bill Pratt.

The President and Committee members are supported by - Ralph Gallagher, Chief Executive Officer; Greg Bancroft, Racecourse Curator and his grounds team Cindy Logan and Scott Cole. Sandra Young and Georgie Lauritz occasionally supported by Scei Ashley are the Club's Training Track Supervisors who also assist with other tasks on race days. Administrative support is provided on a sessional basis by Catherine McGlead ,Raceday Co-ordinator and Pam Witheridge.

The picturesque country racecourse, located on the South Gippsland Highway, (click here to view a map) is a wonderful place for a family day out. It is easy to get to . . . .

• 20 minutes drive from Foster, Leongatha or Venus Bay


• 40 minutes drive from Inverloch, Sandy Point, Walkerville or Waratah Bay


• a one hour drive from Latrobe Valley, Phillip Island or Wilsons Promontory


• only two hours drive south east from Melbourne.

Reflecting its family friendly ethos, the Club offers children free admission and entertainment.

The entire course, which has a circumference of 1690 metres, is irrigated and provides an ideal all-weather track. It is a tough test with a downhill run between the 1,400 and 1,000 metre marks. The track then rises slightly to the 500 metre mark before a slight fall brings the runners to an uphill run for the final 200 metres of the 340 metre straight.
